Lesson 12
I was trying to find an easy position in the hard wooden chair that caused my rear to go numb. Just five more minutes. Five more minutes, and then my weekend could begin. I hated Friday classes. They always seemed to drag on, and this one was no different. Glancing around the room, I noticed the rest of the class was just as bored as I was. Leaning back into my seat, I crossed my arms and began to wait out the last few terrible minutes.
“I think we'll end a little earlier today,” Dr.Hamilton stated, setting his papers down on the desk in front of him. As soon as those words came out of his mouth, the room was filled with the rustling of papers and the clicking of binder rings.
“Oh, one more thing,” he shouted above the noise. “If you missed the last class, I need to speak with you about the assignment.”
“Damn it,” I muttered to myself. “I guess the weekend will have to wait a few more minutes.”
As the rest of the students left the room,I made my way down to the front. I expected some other people to remain behind, but to my surprise everyone went out except me.
“Okay,” Dr.Hamilton began, handing me a sheet of paper. “This is your assignment. Since you are the last one to choose a topic, you have no other option. I trust this is okay?”
“Yes,” I answered.
“Good,” Dr.Hamilton continued. “Now unfortunately, since you were the only one to miss the last class when we divided into groups, you'll have no partner. Also, you will have to take the only remaining open time for presentations, which is one week from today.”
I groaned. There goes my weekend. “Any questions? No? Okay then. Good luck.” With that, Dr.Hamilton gathered up the rest of his things and headed towards the doorway.
